There were some great kids’ bedrooms revealed on The Block this week, and we loved some of the concepts presented. As Scott Cam said, “it’s all about impact!” Here are our favourite (and fun) ideas:

Climbing wall

What a great idea! Adventurous children will love this interactive space that helps to burn off extra energy too. Anything to encourage kids to move more and improve their fine motor skills is a win for us.

Bright colours

There’s no doubt that bright primaries make spaces fun. We loved the use of bright colours to lift the kids’ rooms and create cheerful spaces. The most successful children’s rooms are bright, and happy, and colour is a great way to achieve this.

Room for creativity

Clever ideas such as a colouring wall or a performance space can help young people explore their creativity and encourage them to use their imagination. Play areas are important for children and it’s great to have plenty of space to for them to create and explore.

Posters

It’s a good idea to allow children to have input into their own space, which is why posters are always popular. Posters (ideally in frames) can really reflect the children’s interests of the moment and can easily be swapped out as their focus changes and they grow. Looking to make sure the walls also last the distance? Think about upgrading to Gyprock Superchek, a high-density plasterboard that delivers exceptional impact resistance and noise control.

Study space/desk

As kids grow and progress in their education, study space becomes more important. We loved the idea of incorporating a desk area into a child’s bedroom, usually as part of the cabinetry. This can also work as a work-from-home space if necessary, or for when homeowners become empty nesters.
