It was backyard and pool week on The Block and we loved seeing these suburban blocks being transformed into green havens!

The hidden secret in every external facade

Behind all five houses façades this year you will find them wrapped entirely in Bradford Enviroseal which is the secret weapon to protecting and transforming how your home works with the outside environment – check out HERE to find out more on why it’s one of the most important ‘hidden’ features in this years Block.

Get creative with brickwork

Our PGH Bricks have proven how versatile they are this season and we loved seeing how Leah & Ash transformed them into a comfy fireplace seating area PLUS used them in their outdoor BBQ kitchen!

To help bring their outdoor rooms to life, Leah and Ash used a painted white rumbled brick from PGH to create the perfect seating area for their fire pit and multi-functional BBQ and Pizza oven bench. A rumbled brick is a type of brick that has undergone a tumbling process to give it a weathered appearance. They’re often used in landscaping projects to create a more rustic or traditional aesthetic. They can be used for various purposes, including paving, wall construction, and architectural detailing. The tumbling process gives the bricks a worn and aged look, which can add character and charm to a building or outdoor space.

Creating the ideal lux outdoor space

  • There were some great examples of landscaping seen and we thought we’d share our favourite tips on how to create a luxurious outdoor space
  • Include an al fresco area. Outdoor entertaining is huge now and families of all types love the opportunity to celebrate Australia’s great weather. For the best result, connect your outdoor area to an open plan living space to create a seamless connection between indoors and out.
  • Use established plants. While they are more expensive, established plants help to make a yard look ‘finished’ and provide shade from the get-go. If you don’t have the budget, consider including a couple of quick-growing plants to help make it look established in the shortest amount of time.
  • Add a water feature for effect. Water adds such a calming element to a garden – the sound is always special and, when well designed, it can be done using recycled or reticulated water to be more eco-friendly.
  • Choose the right pool fencing. We love the glass fences chosen by the teams, which allows the exterior cladding (especially bricks) to take centre stage and allow the pool to shine.
