The Heart of the Home: Bringing the Kitchen to Life

A functional space with mass appeal is the key to a quality kitchen

Hitting the halfway point in the competition this week The Block contestants tackled the heart of the home, the kitchen. As House 3 contestant Ricky said, “kitchens sell houses”, so this was a big week for all the teams as they worked hard to  balance trades, design choices, and all the challenges that encompass building their dream kitchen.

It was amusing to watch the drama over Gyprock – we know the teams love Gyprock, so it is not surprising they may have over-ordered in their enthusiasm to have it in their builds. It’s a great product!

As for the final result of the week, it looked like newcomers Maddie and Charlotte were about to take the win, however, House 4’s Brad played the Bonus Penguin Point last minute securing the win. House 4’s sophisticated colour palette using Kylie’s favourite shade, black, as well as all the clever details and gadgets they included are so practical and clever.
